World Gaming Festival

 

The World Gaming Festival or popularly known as WGF, a property of Delta Corp Ltd and Percept Limited, is a foremost gaming festival held to encourage the game lovers. The franchise rights of the festival are with Cheeky Bulls Media.

History

World Gaming Festival promotes five skill based games that include Blackjack, Texas Hold'em Poker, American Roulette, Indian Flush and Baccarat. The first or debut event was held at India’s largest casino vessel ‘Çasino Royale’ Goa from 23rd-26th

September, 2011 that received acclamations from a huge fan base. The success of Word Gaming Festival was interpreted as a milestone that brought global lifestyle and exciting gaming experience for first time in India.

The World Gaming Festival's inaugural chapter was celebrated with the gracious presence of boxer Vijender Singh and actress Minissha Lambain 2011 at Casino Royale, Goa. Vijender who is a regular visitor at Casino Royale said, "When skill supersedes luck, it becomes a sport. This tournament is different from gambling in many ways. As a new concept, it will surely be a superb experience."

Tournament Format

The Pay-Out of this event is distributed among a group of players. The winner takes home a third of the prize pool and remaining is equally divided among the other players who reach the final table or top 5 places.

Day 1 saw some slow action with 85 entries with the re-entires. The players with the highest number of chips at the end of the day were Gopi Sade (262,100 chips) and Bobbie Suri (205, 600 chips). Day 2 was a complete contrast with early exits and the unlucky exit of Rajesh Goyal. He is among the few Indian players to win back to back tournaments.

Highlights

Once the entry fee has been deposited and registration done, the participants can play Poker or Baccarat or both. The other option is to participate in Blackjack, American Roulette and Indian Flush OR a blend of two or three of these games. World Gaming Festival is a bit unique from other tournaments as it is formed by amalgamating 5 games that usually differ from a regular game.

It is a four day knock-out tournament in which players are not allowed to rejoin or re-enter any tournament or table. The highlight, however, was poker tournament as the organisers had guaranteed a prize pool of INR 1 cr.

Main Events

The final table was specially set up at a different level and the players were given a magnificent welcome. Bobbie Suri took good advantage of his lead in the number of chips and competed for the title against Team Poker Guru mentor, Aditya ‘Intervention’ Agarwal.

Player of the Year

Bobbie Suri became the proud owner of the trophy of the World Gaming Festival Poker Tournament with a win of INR 3.5 million.

The registration fees of INR 100,000 included not only the participation fee, but also flight tickets, accommodation with pick and drop, choice of multi-cuisine food to name a few.

The registration process for WGF is simple and can be completed in a few steps either by telephone or sending a message as ‘SMS WGF to 56363’. To guide and solve queries of the participants, WGF has recruited a relationship manager.
