Disconnection Policy

Disconnection Mechanism

Note: Disconnection mechanism is applicable for Ring/Cash games only.

Terminology for disconnection:

To proceed further one should be aware of the poker terminology that we use in online games. We are also going to mention few more terms related to Poker Disconnection Mechanism.

1. Blinds

Before a game starts, two players to the left of the dealer make Blind Bets called Small Blind (SB) & Big Blind(BB). The player to the left of the dealer posts the Small Blind. The second player to the left of the dealer posts the Big Blind(BB) which is equal to the double Small Blind(SB). If player does not have enough chips to make Blind Bet, player stakes everything player has at once.

2. Betting Actions

(i) CALL

To contribute the minimum amount of money to the pot ,necessary to continue playing a hand.

(ii) CHECK

To pass on betting. If there's no action (bet) to you, there's nothing to call. If you don't want to bet, you can just "check."

(iii) FOLD

To give up by placing your cards face down on the table, losing whatever you have bet so far. You only fold when you think your hand is too weak to compete against the other players.

(iv) RAISE

To wager more than the minimum required to call, forcing other players to put in more money as well.

(v) BET

Players may bet if no other players have bet during the current round. Once a bet has been made, other players must ‘call’ by matching the amount bet, in order to remain in the hand.

3. Turn Time

In online poker, Player gets a fixed duration of time window to take any betting action when his/her turn comes to play poker. That time duration is known as Turn Timer.

4. Time Bank

In online poker, the time bank is an additional amount of time given to all players to decide whether to check, bet, or fold when faced with a difficult decision.

5. Pot

The pot in poker refers to the sum of money that players wager during a single hand or game, according to the betting rules of the variant being played. At the conclusion of a hand, either by all but one player folding, or by showdown, the pot is won or shared by the player or players holding the winning cards. Sometimes a pot can be split between many players. There are three types of Pots - Total Pot, Main Pot & Side Pot.

Total Pot: Total pot is the pot having all the blinds, bets etc.

Main Pot: The main pot in a hand is the pot for which all active players compete.

Side Pot: A side pot is necessary when one or more players are all-in with different amount of chips with minimum three players are active in that hand. A player can only win an amount of chips equal to their starting stack from any other player. All of the chips that can be won by the player with the lowest starting stack make up the main pot. Chips bet by other players are put into one or more side pots. It is possible that the side pots are bigger than the main pot.

Examples:

- Three players are all-in and they have 300, 500 and 800 respectively. A main pot of 900 (3 x 300) will be created with 300 from everyone and a side pot of 400 (2 x 200) will be created between the other players who have more chips than the lowest stack.

- Four players have 300, 500, 900 and 1,000. A main pot of 1,200 (4 x 300), one side pot of 600 (3 x 200) and one side pot of 800 (2 x 400) will be created.

6. Disconnection Time/Grace Time

Disconnection time is the time that we provide to the user when they are facing network issues during their own turn. Disconnection timer is dependent upon the various scenarios that we will discuss later in this document. Disconnection time is also known as Grace Time. We can use it interchangeably but throughout this document we would use the term “Disconnection Time”.

7. Buffer time/System Time

Buffer time is also known as the System Time.Duration of Buffer time is 3 seconds.

(I) Disconnection Mechanism without Time Bank

If a player gets disconnected during the turn time and doesn’t connect until the Turn time ends. Following condition will be verified and action will be taken accordingly.

(i) If check option is available then check action will be taken at the end of Turn Time & game will proceed accordingly. There wouldn’t be any need of Disconnection Timer to provide to the player.

(ii) If check option is not available (In case opponent player has raised/bet) then there are further two more conditions to follow:-

 A) If a player’s money is not included in the Main Pot(pot in the table) then Fold action will be taken at the end of Turn Timer.

 B) Player’s money is included in the Main Pot(pot in the table)then following calculation will take place to provide the disconnection timer:

    • 15 seconds if the Main pot is less than 5xX (X denotes the BB)

    • 25 seconds if the Main pot is equals to or greater then 5xX (X denotes the BB)

NOTE: The amount of time awarded will depend on the Main pot + side pot (if created).

Disconnection-Mechanism

6. In case of Crazy Pineapple, if a player get disconnected then in that case 2 cases will be followed:-

a) If a player has already chosen the card to discard before the discard timer starts and then gets disconnected during the discard timer then already chosen card by him will be discarded.

b) If a player gets disconnected during the discard timer then rightmost card among the 3 cards will get discarded automatically.

7. As already discussed, All-in Protection is not enabled yet therefore in every scenario if check action is not allowed to take then only FOLD action will get performed in case of disconnection. (Just to make it more simpler).
