Texas Holdem – How to Play A10

Ace Ten (A-10) is a decent starting poker hand to have but it is always to be judged if the 10 is the perfect support for your ace. Suited ones will give you a 2% advantage but if not played with caution then the ace may backfire.

Play in position

Ace Ten or Johny Moss as this Texas Hold’em hand is nicknamed can be played from all poker positions. When you see these cards pre-flop then simply call your options irrespective of your position. An Ace is always strong and 10 maybe a good cushion to play with even if the flop isn’t all over cards. If you have suited Ace Ten and are in late position or the button, then you can even consider a re-raise if your stack is table average. This could eliminate the chasers who are trying to free ride till the flop in online poker.

It can be a made hand

Sometimes when you are dealt Ace Ten suited, they can be considered as the perfect made hands if you are a short stack. In such a situation, middle or late positions will surely instigate you to go all in. But calling it smoothly will get you the edge. Just see the flop and if you hit your suits or get an ace or ten, then you can surely go all in. In a short-handed table, an Ace Ten suited is quite a strong hand to have and should be played with some aggression, pretty much the same way, you would approach AJ/AQ.

When Played at Adda52

In the Sunday finals of no limit Texas Holdem at Adda52, player Hkhurana was in late position when he saw Ac and 10c as his hole cards. With the blinds at 4/8 and everyone calling in the 4 player table, he raised to 24. He got a caller in mihir2700 who was big blind and had 5s 4s. The rainbow flop gave Hkhurana a top pair as 7h 7s 10s. Hkhurana raised to 40 again and forced mihir2700 to fold. It was a good fold for mihir2700 though he was looking at a flush draw but chasing such small hands in online poker is never a good poker strategy.
