Don’t believe it? Just check out the below poker story, which is a real life experience of Farbod Shoraka, CEO of BloomNation.

The former investment banker Farbod Shoraka is the co-founder and CEO of BloomNation, an online flower marketplace. Few years back, when Farbod was surfing the web, he saw a website with poor graphics and designs. He didn’t like it at all and wondered that he can do much better. Finally, he decided to set up his own business.

He enlisted two of his friends, David Daneshgar and Gregg Weisstein. After whole discussion, their business planning got strucked at the inevitable question of money. Suddenly, both friends realized that they have a unique asset as Daneshgar, who had won a number of events in 2008 at WSOP.

Though, Daneshgar had given up the game but returned back in 2011 & participated in a live poker tournament in hope of funding the newly planned project. As expected, Daneshgar won the tournament and took away the prize money of $27,000 which was enough to hire a developer and obtain 50 square feet of office space—barely adequate to accommodate a desk. This got them up and running. The company gained further assistance from the venture capital firms Andreessen Horowitz and Spark Capital, and today more than 2,500 florists nationwide sell their products on the site.

So, this was how the game of poker helped a common guy in his journey to a well-known capitalist. What’s your poker story? Share your poker experience with us in the below comment section!!
