After a player has laid down their melds, the next player takes their turn. Play continues in this fashion until one player has laid down all of their cards, at which point the round ends. The player with the most points at the end of the round wins.

There are several different types of melds in Canasta, including natural melds (sets of three or four cards of the same rank), mixed melds (sets of three or more cards of the same rank, with wild cards), and wild melds (sets of seven cards of the same rank, with at least four natural cards and three wild cards).
