David Deron Haye was born on October 13, 1980, in Bermondsey, London, England. His father is Jamaican, and his mother is English. After his second loss to Tony Bellew, David officially retired from professional boxing and sought new challenges. Grosvenor Casinos, one of the UK’s largest poker brands, approached him with an unusual offer: “ They asked if I’d be willing to learn the game from scratch and take on one of the world’s biggest poker tournaments — the Goliath.”

To prepare for the 2019 Grosvenor Goliath, David trained with seasoned poker pros, including Jeff Kimber (GUKPT winner), Joe Beevers (Hendon Mob founder), and Katie Swift (Goliath finalist). He even took a crash course. He said early lessons were difficult; he could not grasp the strategy through lectures and books.
In 2019, he finished 28th in the APT Manila Monster Stack and cashed in PHP 38,400, taking $739 home. He was placed 40th out of 9,300 players in Grosvenor Goliath 2019 (Coventry).
