David Sklansky is an American professional poker player known for his mathematical approach to the game. He is also an author; his key work is ‘The Theory of Poker’.
Background
David Sklansky was born on 22nd December 1947 and raised in Teaneck, New Jersey. He graduated from Teaneck High School in 1966 and attended the University of Pennsylvania but later dropped out before graduation. He returned to Teaneck, passed multiple Society of Actuaries exams, and worked for an actuarial firm. During this time, he learned and discovered faster ways to do some of the calculations.
David Sklansky Poker Career
David Sklansky has won three World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets. 1982, he won two bracelets in the $800 Mixed Doubles with Dani Kelly and the $1,000 Draw Hi. He won his third bracelet in the $1,000 Limit Omaha Hi the following year.
He has written and contributed fourteen books on poker, blackjack, and general gambling. 2004, he won the Poker By The Book invitational event on the World Poker Tour.
