How to play Seven Card Stud Poker?
For playing the 7 card stud Poker, players need an ideal deck of cards. The game is played between 2 to 8 players, and each player gets 7 cards in their hand. There are 5 rounds taking place in this card game- third street, fourth street, fifth street, sixth street and seventh street.
The first round is termed as third street, where the player gets three cards, in which 2 were placed face down & 1 will be face up on the table. The second round is known as fourth street where the player gets one card in face-up position. In the third round, which is called a fifth street, the player again gets a single card in face-up position. Now on the sixth street, the player gets a single card again in the face-up position. Here finally comes the final round, which is called a seventh street. In this the player gets a final card in face-down position.
In these rounds, the player has to make the best card combination just like hold’em. By the fifth round, if there are more than one player left on the table, then the showdown takes place. Now the ones who were left on the table have to show their best card combination, and according to it, the winner will be decided.
After the game is over, the pot amount will be distributed to all the players as there are only 52 cards & only 8 players in the game so it's possible to run out of cards before seventh street.
7 Card Stud Poker rules
For playing any card game, there are some sets of rules, which are supposed to be followed by the players. In this we will discuss the seven card stud Poker rules-
- In the fourth street, the player who gets the higher value of suit of his/her exposed card, has to bet first.
- Before commencing, the first or we should say the third street, the betting round takes place.
- Also in the sixth street round, the player who gets the higher value of suite will have to bet first as in the next round which is the seventh street, the player gets a card in a face-down position.
- If there is more than one player who left even after the final or seventh street, then a showdown round will take place.
Card Stud Poker Gameplay
The game started with the first nominal betting in which all the players have to do a bet before commencing the first round means the third street. After that,the third street begins where a dealer dealt 3 cards to each & every player in which the starting two will be distributed in face-down position and the remaining one will be in face-up.Then again, a round of betting takes place before the second round.
In the fourth street (second round) the players get one card in face-up position and then the betting happens before the third round. In the fifth street (third round) the player gets the one card in the face-up position & betting commences before the fourth round. In the sixth street (fourth round) the dealer will again dealt a single card in face-up position and again betting takes place. Now comes the final round which is called the seventh street, where the player gets the card in face-down position.
Here all round completes. Now the one who remains in the final round will be declared a winner of the game. There may come a situation where more than one player could survive on the table even after the seventh street. Now here is a showdown round for all the ones who are left on the table. In the showdown, the remaining players have to show their best five card combination & the one who has the best hand will be declared the winner.
5 Card Stud Poker
Apart from the card numbers and distributing manner, the rules and format are almost the same in the 5 card Stud Poker. The only difference is that the 5 card Stud Poker consists of 2 to 5 players at a time. Here the dealer first dealt two cards in which one would be in face-down position and the other one as in face-up position. After that, the remaining three cards will be dealt in the face-up position.
Then again, if there is more than one player left on the table, the showdown round will take place.
The 5 card Stud Poker hands are the same as in the 7 card Stud Poker. Apart from that, the 5 card Stud Poker strategy is also similar as we discussed in the 7 card Stud Poker.
5 Card Stud Poker Rules
Following are the rules for the 5 card Stud Poker-
- The 5 card Stud Poker is played between 2 to 5 players.
- After dealting the cards, the one who carries the higher value of his/her exposed card, will have to start betting first.
- If the two players have the same value on their exposed cards, then the one who has the higher suit value, should start the betting.
