The game of 5 card stud gives people a bit of a jolt. Most people confuse the game with the 7 card stud which is the more familiar of the two games. The game of 5 card stud Dogbutt poker is just one of the many variants that you will find in this family of poker games. Here, the basic play structure for stud games apply but the game rules can vary depending on where you play. The Game is not such that you will find in casinos online. 5 Card Stud Dogbutt Poker is more of a party game that you play with friends and family.

The dealer uses a standard deck of 52 cards. The game is played with 2 to 7 players. The antes are placed and the dealer gives each player 2 cards face down. Then betting takes place. Once all bets are in, the dealer deals another card.  There is betting after each card is played and the game will continue in this fashion until all players left over in the game have a total of five cards.

The twist in 5 card stud Dogbutt poker is simply that you get wild cards. The 3’s and 9’s are wild which gives you a better chance of winning. If a player does get a four face up, that player is entitled to get one extra card.  Winning hands generally consist of either a High or Low pair in the original game of 5 Card Stud but this changes in 5 Card Draw Dogbutt as you have more winning combinations because of the wild cards. The biggest drawback in this game is that you only get one pocket card; this does not give you a lot of room to bluff. It is for this very reason that this game is relegated to parties instead of serious gambling rooms.
